Many labeling operations run two separate steps: a converter preprints the color artwork, then an on-site thermal transfer printer adds barcodes and variable data. The Epson ColorWorks CW-C6000 Series color inkjet label printer handles both steps on blank stock in a single pass.
It suits production supervisors, packaging teams and labeling engineers who want color labels when they need them, without shelving dozens of preprinted label versions. Because it reads ZPL II natively, it can pick up jobs from an existing thermal transfer printer without rebuilt label formats.
Label data arrives the way it does today: from SAP, middleware or a Windows, Mac or Linux workstation, over gigabit Ethernet or USB 2.0. The printer renders the full label, graphics and data together, so no preprinted roll needs to be matched to the job.
At the output, the finishing option decides what happens next. Auto cutter models (CW-C6000A, CW-C6500A) cut variable-length labels and separate jobs cleanly. Peel-and-present models (CW-C6000P, CW-C6500P) hand off one label at a time, either to an operator or to an automated applicator connected through the I/O port.
The series fits operations that print color-coded fields, logos or product images alongside variable data. It is a strong match for print-and-apply cells, short-run product labeling and any line that currently stocks multiple preprinted label versions. The 8-inch CW-C6500 models extend the same workflow to wider labels and segmented banner printing for large signs.
Use media between 0.005" and 0.009" thick on a 3" core. Supported types include inkjet coated matte and gloss paper, high-gloss and matte synthetic, PET film, fine paper and uncoated plain paper, fed from an internal roll, rear fanfold or an external unwinder.
Match the black ink to your stock. The Gloss Black configuration covers the widest range of substrates, including semi-gloss and high-gloss. The Matte Black configuration gives darker blacks on matte and uncoated media but is not recommended for semi-gloss or high-gloss. Peel-and-present models need media at least 2.0" wide.
